Our Aims
The principal aims of OPP are to:
A home-grown initiative that is led by Pakistani academics and alumni, the OPP works in close partnership with various departments and colleges of the University of Oxford, and acts as a unique platform for collaboration on Pakistan at Oxford.
On Thursday 30th September, the Oxford Pakistan Programme was launched at the Pakistan High Commission in London. LMH's Principal Christine Gerrard, former Principal Alan Rusbridger, Dr Nick Brown, Syed Babar Ali and alumna Malala Yousafzai all gave speeches at the event in strong support of the initiative.
Adeel Malik is a development macroeconomist with a strong multi-disciplinary orientation. He completed his doctorate in economics at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar in 2004, having also been affiliated with the Department of Economics at Oxford (2004-5), Merton College (2002-3), the Centre for International Development at Harvard University (2001) and the Mahbub ul Haq Human Development Centre in Islamabad (1997-9).
Talha J. Pirzada is currently a lecturer in Material Science at Mansfield College, University of Oxford. He is also a post doctorate fellow at Oxford. Talha is a Chartered Aerospace Engineer working on jet engine efficiency. He is also serving as the Research and Technology Manager at Cross Manufacturing Ltd.
The Tareen Oxford Scholarship is made possible by the generous support of Mr. Ali Tareen, an alumnus of Kellogg College, Oxford. This scholarship is designed to support deserving Pakistani scholars from South Punjab and increase their representation at the University of Oxford. The scholarship will be established as a five-year programme, with funds being donated annually and being disbursed on a rolling basis.
